Taraneh Shirazian

Dr. Shirazian is the Founder and Director of the Center for Fibroid Care at NYU Langone Grossman School of Medicine in NYC. The Center for Fibroid Care is a unique, state-of-the-art wellness center for individuals who suffer from fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, and pelvic pain. The Center offers a holistic, multidisciplinary approach aimed not only at effectively treating fibroids, but also at prioritizing each patient’s life goals including family planning. In addition, the center supports longitudinal care and research into understanding the nature of fibroid disease and its long-term outcomes.

Dr. Shirazian is a practicing minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon and Associate Professor at NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. Shirazian also serves as the Director of Global Women's Health in OBGYN and as the Director of Global Women’s Health at the NYU College of Global Public Health where she has taught postgraduate courses to MPH, MD and PhD students for the last 7 years. She is the Founder and President of Saving Mothers (savingmothers.org). Founded in 2009, Saving Mothers is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating the senseless number of preventable maternal deaths and birth-related complications in the developing world.

As a recognized leader in women’s health and an accomplished surgeon and gynecologist, Dr. Shirazian is an advocate for women’s health education and empowerment. She specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and management of common health issues affecting women. Her areas of medical and surgical expertise include uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, and endometriosis. More than anything,
